Combining low grunt, deep sound characteristics of 2 cylinder engines at low rpm, and high pitched screaming sound of 4 cylinder engines at high rpm.

I used to love my Triumph Daytona 675. Light, nimble, powerful and handled well. I managed to get that thing over the manufacturers claimed top speed on the freeway and sold it because I came to realize I wasn’t mature enough for a sport bike at that time.

The reason the RS3 Cube failed is because the oiling system was inadequate. I believe Cosworth was the one who helped design it. Unfortunately the didn’t account the pitch, roll, and yaw. The oiling systems on a bike need to account for these crucial behavior characteristics.

Visio, another 3 cylinder motorcycle that had insane power was the Kawasaki H1 500. You had to lean on the tank if you were launching it hard because the torque band would cause the bike to pop a wheelie

I had a Kawasaki H2 three cylinder engine bike in 1975, 750 cc which put out about 60 horsepower, 11 seconds in the 1/4 mile, loved!

Yamaha FZ/MT-09 847cc triple is extremely quick revving.
Triumph has the most inline-3 engines currently, with 675, 765, 1050, 1215, and 2294 (cruiser, Rocket III).

Triples sound the most interesting in my opinion, of most motorcycles. They cram a lot of displacement in a small space, similar as a V4 (narrow angle, that is). You could make a 1300cc inline-3 more narrow than the equivalent 1000cc inline-4 block, factoring in a very useful and common bore-to-stroke size ratio.

Getting into the watercraft, snow machine, and side-by-side UTV worlds, there are a LOT of inline-3 engines making big power with turbos and superchargers.

Can-Am with the Spyder with an Ace Rotax.
Can-Am with the Maverick X3 and turbo Ace Rotax.
Sea-Doo 1503 and 1630 Ace Rotax engines (boosted i-3).
Yamaha YXZ1000R with a 1000cc.
Yamaha with turbo 998cc i-3 snowmobile option.
Yamaha Wave Runner 1049cc TR-1 inline-3.

Can't think of any other recreational vehicles that use inline-3 right off.
