The reason I watch Doctor Who is because every once in a while I get to watch episodes with the writing quality of Listen, Heaven Sent, Blink, and Day of The Doctor. I sincerely hope #13 has episodes that live up to that high standard. Ghost Monument was ok, Rosa was fine, but Arachnids in the UK? Whittaker is a great actor, as are all of the crew - I do not blame them. But, so far, the writing is not up the the level of the Peter Capaldi era.

"As you come into this world, something else is also born. You begin your life, and it begins a journey towards you. It moves slowly but it never stops. Wherever you go, whatever path you take, it will follow, never faster, never slower, always coming. You will run, it will walk. You will rest, it will not. One day, you will linger in the same place too long. You will sit too still or sleep too deep and when it's too late, you rise to go. You will notice a second shadow next to yours, your life will then be over."

shortly after this, Capaldi reveals that his character is this same determined force for whoever was responsible for Clara's death. Just as "You will rest, [death] will not", the 12th Doctor declares that he will not stop, and sure enough, billions of years of repeating the same cycle later, one Hell-Bent Doctor has his revenge. "Your life will then be over..."

The essence of what Doctor Who is about in less than a minute

How can the first minute of a single episode be more endearing than an entire years worth of recent episodes??

What an intense psychological thriller exploring the Doctor's resilience, intelligence, and ability to confront his inner fears... this puzzle trap where he must figure out how to escape by examining the clues and learning from the deadly cycles of his own demise.
"Pattern thinking" plays a crucial role in this episode. The Doctor relies heavily on recognising patterns and using reasoning to solve the puzzle of the castle he's trapped in.

When you release he's not talking about death, but confession.
