That moment when the dog didn't flinch is when bear knew he needs to back away ASAP
Also this is a young bear, they're more prone to making mistakes like getting close to humans, but an adult bear is way scarier when you do stumble upon one.

If you notice there are actually two big dogs that look like wolves that is probably what made the lone bear retreat. Bears are smart and he might have presumed even more of those dogs might appear from the forest to surround him.

Seems like a young bear. The owner walking toward his dog caused his dog to continue approaching the bear because he wanted to protect his owner.

The driver who stopped and then left is so careless. He should.have remained to make the dog and the owner were fine.

the first time i ever took my bluetick sadie hiking up in stanley, Idaho we ran into a full mama grizzley who wasnt all that happy to see us since her babies were hanging out just down the road and Sadie posted up to her and barked to the point that foam was coming out of her mouth and would not leave my side...Luckily mama realized we werent a threat and left us alone but that day i understood that she was literally willing to die for me and i thanked her till the day she died for it
