Smaller subwoofers are better! Or are they?

Please make a video project with sub like 10" or 8" in a small sealed box with best choices for you explaining how to obtain a good sq in a small space.

I run 6-18's in my daily lol. Plays 18-60hz very well. B pillar 4th order. 57ft³ net airspace though.

However, as far as sound quality goes, bigger is better

I used to blow away the competition in IDBL using 8s, but I used two 15s at world finals 2002.

****As a younger once, I used a Radio Shack 22" sub and EQ and you could see my 82 (I think it was) Plymouth Horizon walk across gravel drives sliding downhill from being in park. It was deafening!
Used 6*9 for mids and tweets and extra tweets on the cheap that could probably kill mosquitos.
Miss dem days.
Now, it's 15's in SoloBarics with factory setup.
I wanna cry.

A correctly made enclosure makes a WORLD of difference too

Back in '87, I had a single 12" in an appropriately sized box with dual ports. People used to always ask if I was running 4 10's. Few people were using the parameters and tuning their enclosure.
It rocked! Rockford Fosgate midbass, XV-1and amps. Peerless tweeters. Very accurate without having cartoonishly heavy bass like I hear so frequently now.

Is the JL 12 w7 h.o. Box to big in the back set of a Ford Focus 2012? Also have a 10w7 in the trunk.c2 components mid’s in the front and c2 6x9’s in the rear deck. Idk but I like it lol😂

I prefer low fs subwoofers. Larger subwoofers tend to have lower fs. 30hz seems to be the sweet spot in car audio subs in sq.

I always assumed cone size was simply for deeper frequencies while the “true” loudness or power is a result of pure RMS wattage of the speaker.

IMO the biggest reason is types of music and average cone reaction speeds. Listening to super-fast and higher freq EDM on a 15 isn't going to sound anywhere near as good as an 8 or 10. It'll be super muddy and It's definitely where freq separation shines; like running 8's and 12/15's. You send fast higher frequency mid-bass to the 8s and the deep slow bass to the 15s.

In '99 I had a 95 Hyundai Sonata with a wall of 8x 10s and 2x 15s. All Ground Zero subs for heavy techno. Loved it.

Just trying to figure the needed amps for 3x10"

It's really all about what you want to get out of your system. Not so much of cranking it to the maximum loudness potential. If you want to dig into the lows you would definitely want a 15 or a high quality 12. 10inch subs typically don't dig low and peak around 40-50hz. Unless you get some balls to the wall 10's that'll bust your bank account

I turn heads with a single 10" woofer. In my single cab truck. People then ask what kind of 12 or 15 inch woofer. But minds are blown when they find out its just a single 10" 1, 000 rms woofer. I use to run 12's sn 15's. Now i run 6.5's to 10" woofers. Why because i can.

When I did mine I had someone offer me an L7 15 inch for 100 bucks but I ended up going with 2 10 inch punishers powered off of a hifonics bxx 4000.1
They do great moves my face hair 😂

Yup. Wish more people knew this. I had an expedition with 6 JL W6 10". Make for a much better sounding music. Especially for a broader range of music.

I like bigger subs. I only have 12" height available but I made it work with a 15" sub

The cone creates the bass, a larger cone provides more SPL with less excursion, the treble is not effected as much
