Am I the only one who wants to know the world record for Doom on the pregnancy test?

I am ashamed to admit that the very first version of Doom I ever played was the 32X one

The saddest part of the Sega Saturn version is that we could've had a 60fps console version in 1997, and it was scrapped because it looked slightly worse.

That lady remade doom without source code? In 10 weeks? On the 3DO? Legendary.

3DO Doom:
One programmer
Ten weeks
Zero chance that this'll turn out well.

Burger Becky is a powerhouse of a programmer the fact that she alone was able to port Doom in 10 weeks for the 3DO is amazing, just imaging what she could have done with a proper team, time and resources.

For the longest time my only experience with Doom was the SNES port, and I know it looks awful, and is a slog to control, but something about that somehow adds to it for me. It's like how the sluggish tank controls of the first few Resident Evil games makes you feel more helpless. A single cacodemon felt like a huge threat, and (if I recall correctly) not being able to save the game further added to this.

Nightmare seemed impossible, but trying to slowly crawl through this game as a kid on ultraviolent in one sitting was an amazing experience for me.

When I play PC I feel like an incredibly powerful supersoldier, who the demons should fear.
When I played SNES, I felt like an ordinary soldier, who was just barely able to scrape by these terrifying and dangerous demons, by being smarter, and a little lucky.

Overall I acknowledge PC is superior by miles, especially for speedrunning, but I'll always have a soft spot for my casual snes playthrough.

Fun fact, one of the reasons that a lot of doom console ports runs poorly is because that except the enemies doom isn't a sprite game engine but a bitmap one(a abridged version is that they use texture and generate the images on the fly).

When doom launched and even some time later there wasn't any big console that wasn't a sprite based console(where it's gpu was made to handle sprites) so porting to them was difficult

"He lied to her, telling her the game was near complete. When in reality development haven't even begun"
me: Well, he's kind of an asshole
"He promised the best version of the game. With new guns, levels and enemies"
me: ...What?
"Randy gave Rebbeca 10 weeks to get the port done"
me: WHAT?
"Without even providing her the source code"
me: WHAT????!!!

Karl: "I wouldn't wish this port on my worst enemy"
Billy Mitchell: (breaths sigh of relief)

I feel so bad for Rebecca Heinemen, that shit must’ve been the most stressful 10 weeks.

Long story short:
They ask "Can it run Doom" but are so overwhelmed by power,
they never ask "should it run doom"

To be honest, most pregnancy tests have the ability to cause DOOM.

Imagine a normal Pregnancy Test with a chance of 1% to start DOOM when used.

The thing about Doom's success back in 1993 was that it made me really happy because I'd always been a PC gamer, starting from the Commodore 64 onward. When Doom became a massive success, it was sort of like I'd been vindicated in my belief that these would be the superior gaming machines one day
