good info, What I do is just screw 2 by four directly into studs.

of course nothing is perfect but beefing up door jambs with 3 or 4 inch screws and buy security striker plates and plates on hinged side is 10 times stronger than basic unit!

While some comments have pointed out if they really want in, they will get in. I'd also like to say in the case of a home invasion, reinforcements could slow them down enough to escape or defend yourself. Also it increases the noise to alert or maybe deter some thieves in some areas. For example a friend broke silently into my polebarn with a screwdriver, so I made it more difficult. Now if they want in, they will have to make A Lot of Noise! Course that approach only works if your home most the time or have good neighbors.

You can slow the thief down but in the end they will find a way in. I’ve seen a guy on a home security video kick a rear door about 50 times until he got in the door ( dummy should have looked for an unlocked window first but went straight to the back door)

If i get a thickened frame and a door reinforcement plate, would this prevent it?
