You don’t need more than 2x2. All smart phones only have a 2x2 antenna config. Some higher end devices may have 3x3 but 4x4 is VERY rare. Your theoretical max speed settings may be less. But you save on money if you stuck with 2x2

One thing to note is that if your devices connected don’t support MU-MIMO, it won’t make a difference

do you have an AP that is MU-MIMO with no router? or do I need to buy a Nighthawk Router and put into AP mode? I have a Custome Router with Customer firmware, and just need better WIFI and really need MU-MIMO.

Why not just use a dual band modem/router. And is there a point where if you have so many devices you get daminishing returns?
