If you’re new to Geek Psychology, my name is Matt Sherman. People call me Sherman. I'm a personality type expert, life coach, hypnotist, author, podcaster, and course creator. I help mainly INFPs embrace their unique strengths and navigate life's challenges. Through practical strategies and deep insights, I aim to help people like you live a more fulfilling and authentic live where you can wake up and feel good about who you are and your impact on the world. ISTP's Battle Between Head and Heart
Have you ever felt like as an ISTP, you're afraid to get too close to people because they might leave you or hurt you? It's understandable, especially since introverted thinking is your main strength - you excel at detached processing of information to get good and accurate results. However, with that comes the shadow side of extroverted feeling, which involves navigating the social world and social cues.

As an INFP, I've learned from my experiences that it's important to embrace failure as a way to move forward. If someone leaves or hurts you, it's not necessarily a reflection of your worth. Instead, use that information to find someone who's even better for you next time. And in the meantime, focus on improving yourself.

So if you're an ISTP struggling with this fear of getting hurt, remember that it's okay to take risks and fail. With every experience, you'll learn and grow, and eventually, you'll find the right people who appreciate you for who you are.

It makes me feel stupid. I’m not stupid and feelings aren’t stupid. I just feel that way about feeling the feelings.

The balance comes as you age, the back seat parts of of your personality type matures out of their child age mode.

I am INTP and also has this problem. It's hard for me to let people in because I am afraid the cost of getting hurt. I just had an ISTJ best friend who angry at me and try to getting revenge by hurting me in every angle possible.

It just makes me to afraid of letting people in again in the future, the feeling was too intentse and unbearable

My husband is ISTP. It was difficult for me to crack into his emotional world. Once I did, he is bestest lover I could ever get

I'm not afraid they'll hurt me by leaving. Just that if I actually liked them they will be clanging around in my head and that hurts because you can see all these qualities you liked and times had which mean nothing. Even if people leave, usually nothing so bad has happened that there is any excusse for invalidating it all. But, a lot of people want it to be a total cut off and turn to hating the person they used to be with and that's too freaking weird for me to deal with.

Bro I'm just finding out about this personality stuff and it's so relieving to know that 1. I'm not just an a-hole. 2. There are other people like me. 3. I can put a sort of name on what iv been trying to self diagnose all my life. But at the same time I don't want to have any kind of lable including istp so it's all weird

I don't even think of getting hurt in relationship, I'm more in the present.
My(ISTP) problem is more like I hate falling in love/infatuation. I feel out of control and irrational AND I can't even fix it lol

That's true. My husband was a rcross between American Psycho and Sleeping with the Enemy dudes but nowhere near as successful as either. The next guy I was with was just an abusive stress queen. Solid improvement. The next guy .. doesn't exist.

Not really I don’t think that istp are that pathetic
They more like action oriented rather than feelings if u get what am saying
They could only struggle with emotional people obviously if they are closed ones
But rather than that they are careless to be honest

You istp dont have contentment in life. When someone loves you. You will take them for granted ignore and hurt then detached yourself from them in an instant then move on for your next victim and the process continues.
