Underrated fact: "Dust" sans is actually called
"Murder Sans"
People call him dust due to the fact that he had to kill monsters, which turn into dust after passing. Also because a lot of art or spriteworks have his clothes covered in dust as well.

In my personal view, the "Murder" has a double meaning, not just the murder of his kind, friends or family, but the murder of himself 🤔

To put it simply, roughly after about 360 resets, a glitch occurs in the timeline where sans remembers all the past Genocide timelines, he then makes a plan to kill everyone before the human and gain enough LV to overpower and kill the human, obviously though killing everyone is hard for him and phantom papyrus is pretty horrible to sans at an extent, he still doesn’t win though and frisk keeps sans in a loop of killing everyone

* Dusttale aka "Murder" but lets just call him dust for now. Dust was tired of the human aka "chara" killing everyone especially him over and over again. So he decided to kill everyone so gain enough love aka "Level of violence" so he could kill the human. Because it depends on your love for how stong you are.The more you kill the stonger you get. It depends on what timeline you will get. There is only two timeline for dusttale first timeline is where dust manage to kill the human with enough love. Second timeline is where dust fails and is stuck in a loop where he kills everyone and still fails. But dust is now part of the "Bad sanses" where killer and horror joined too. Papyrus is still with sans but is a ghost only dust can see him because of his very high insanity. Killer mostly calls dust a freak because dust is talking to someone who is not there...

in the undertale community there are a lot of AUs (Alternate Universe), but there is a category that stands out of those, they are called AT ( Alternate Timeline), they are a variation of the main universe or an other universe caused by an event, Disblief papyrus, Dusttale, Horrortale, Killer!tale and many other are one of those.
Dusttale is the result of Sans going mad after 365 consecutive genocide runs.
Horrortale is the result of an underground left without a king After a neutral run.
Bursttale is the result of gaster experimenting on the underground after 100 consecutive genocides.

Context: Human/The Character decide to do genocide all over again and again sans was pissed off so he lose his sanity so sans decide to starts his own genocide route by killing his friend and all the monster underground including his own brother to get exp aka executioner point to level up so he can prevent the human to get max level, become stronger than the human and can beat the human eailsy but still lose because of that the human keep retrying and manage to kill dust sans
