Almost perfect man, except for the omission of a minor detail: the "grabbing" pointer. I also added e.preventDefault(); at zoom.onmouseup function to avoid error. Good job. What about version 2?

Can you do this zooming for SVG map. The map will stay inside a div. There will be scrooling zoom, a zoom-in/out button and a reset option.
