I'm someone who actually bakes and the meringue needs to form stiff peaks so you know you've beaten it enough, soft peaks don't stay for very long and are super short and stiff ones hold for a while and stand tall when you lift the electric mixer;; just a quick tip since I couldn't see the meringue, so I hope you did it right, Jake. Second, YOU GOTTA FOLD THE MERINGUE IN GENTLY AND IT SHOULD BE KINDA THICK or else it loses all its air. That's it though you made an amazing cake :)

This video reminded me of the first time my brother and I made pizza. We were in the kitchen for 6 hours, arguing and laughing and joking; we likewise made mistakes and learned from them, and the end result was rather satisfactory for first timers. I miss those times; maybe for New years I'll go home for a visit 😁

Your cake was very beautiful at the end, thank you for the memories, laughs and "OH-NO" moments that were nicely saved lol hopefully you continue with your baking endeavor; it's fun once you get the hang of it!

Just some tips for future cake baking vids!
1) When scraping batter into the pan use a silicone spatula
2) Set aside your butter and eggs before you start baking so each can drop to room temperature (you can microwave the butter and let the eggs run under warm water if you'd like to speed up the process)
3)Whip your egg whites for a bit longer
4) Specifically for sponge cake sift your flour and sugar to get that
5) When mixing in flour (or sugar) you should fold it in with a silicone spatula
6) When building the cake spread a tiny piece of butter cream under the bottom layer of cake to stop it from sliding
7) I'd definitely make two times the butter cream but if you make the same amount then you could just make two slabs of cake instead of three
8) It's easier to make the cakes layer slab by layer slab but if you want it flatter then you could pour the batter all into one pan and then cut it into three (or two) pieces after it's baked
Getting a couple more tools (like an icing smoother) for decorating the cake would help a lot too! :D

The end result was so pretty and I'm glad you were able to have a lot of fun :)
