Controversial Post Soviet Flag 🇰🇬

The post Soviet nation of Kyrgyzstan is changing its flag, and it's causing a ton of controversy! Why is this happening?

I believe the flag represents the people of Kyrgyzstan it's up to them. They should be able to vote for the flag they want.

Why don't the Kyrgyz mention: Changing the flag will cost a heck of a lot of money. The change will not improve the lot of the Kyrgyz people. Ridiculous!

I had to pause the video to see the changes. It seems so strange that they want to make such small changes. Why are they adding the 4th stripe? Why do they want the sun's rays?

Kyrgyzstan resident here. New flag is a shitshow, they keep proposing slightly different versions of it and confusing themselves. For example, the one they raised on the central square with a big ceremony and the president present turned out to be an old makeup and they had to quietly switch it a week later. Nobody wants it changed, but protests are pretty quickly shut down 🤷🤷

The new one doesn't look that bad, but the older one looks better with the wavy sun lines. I see they added an extra central crossline, eh. I say listen to the people. They're the ones the flag represents.

The second flag looks more accurate if we talk about what it supposed to represent. Aesthetically doesn't make much difference. It doesn't look better or worse, but it looks more accurate.

I don't see a problem with the new flag from a practical point of view, but the old one does feel, like idk, less geometric and kinda better. I would still choose the new one, myself, but I am not the collective people of Kyrgyzstan. That is a decision the people and government will have to face.
