Next year, I will move to the Netherlands to continue my study. At first I was pretty anxious to move there since I had absolutely zero clue about life in the Netherlands: the culture, the social life, the tolerance, the economics, the health care etc.

But after watching this video, it makes me quite relieved since almost all of the comments are very positive. I can’t wait to move there soon. Wish me luck guys! ✌️

The people where positive because it was in the city centre of The Hague, an area with high income residents who all vote progressive. Try it in the ''Schilderswijk'' or in ''Duindorp'' or in on of the surrounding villages and you might get different responses.

Leuk om Tim op de andere kant van de camera te zien. Heel belangrijk en sterk observaties over het leven in Nederland. Het is wel duur, maar als je meestal thuis koken is het mogelijk om niet zo veel te spenden.

Oh wat fijn om een keer te horen (via de Sociale Media) dat er positieve reacties zijn over ons land. Kritisch zijn mag zeker en niet alles is goed in Nederland. Maar belangrijk is wel om te relativeren en dat doen ook nog gelukkig genoeg mensen.

I'm glad to hear these positive comments about our country. To be honest, not everything is perfect in the Netherlands. Some things need to change. But keep putting things into perspective, that's really important.

I like this concept. Go into the dutch towns in all the provinces and ask the same question. Go into all area's where the life standards aren't as high ah in this movie. Good stuff. Keep it up !

Would love to a see video of what they think of certain areas becoming more diversified in cultures and what their experience has been if any. I know foreigners especially Americans are more open minded than the typical Dutch person. My girl visited me in California and was shocked when so many people greet " Good Morning " she even got several compliments on her dress at the mall by strangers whereas that's never happened to her in her own country before.

Ik ben 66 en heb ongeveer de helft van mijn leven in Nederland gewoond. 12 jaar in Spanje en nu alweer 20 jaar in Duitsland, zoals ook 3 jaar in de jaren 70. Nederland is uitstekend georganiseerd. Wiegel zei ooit dat het land gewoon door kan funtioneren als de 2e kamer en de regering er niet zouden zijn. Dat komt door de doorgeorganiseerde ambtelijke structuur van het land.
De gezondheidszorg is op een hoog niveau, al vind ik de marktwerking in die zorg volstrekt onbegrijpelijk. Dat heeft de prijzen onnodig naar bovem gestuwd. Transport is prima, innovatie op allerlei gebieden ook uitstekend. Landbouw, chemie, muziek, sport, de wegen....te veel om op te noemen. Slecht vind ik het altijd opgeheven Nederlandse leraren vingertje en de prijzen in restaurants zijn vaak veel te hoog. Als er 3 euro wordt gevraagd voor een glas water, of 4 euro voor een bakje patat, dan is er iets fors mis met die Horeca prijzen. In Duitsland eet ik voor de de helft en nog goedkoper. Maar respect, waar respect thuishoort. Nederland is een topland.

I don't speak Dutch, but it is amazing how close the language is to English. I closed my eyes and listened and could get the meaning of much of what was spoken.

The Netherlands has become overpopulated and its still getting worse. It used to be perfect. Thats the reason im worried for the future. Will the Netherlands still be liveable? We have a major housing shortage as it is. Where do our children have to live? I just hope the governement keeps it in check. Its all about balance. Everything is all about growth these days but nothing can grow forever, especially a tiny country as the Netherlands.

I hate to be *that* guy, but the answers to this question of course rely heavily on where you're going to make this video and who you're going to interview. If I'm not mistaken, this is the center of The Hague, our political capital. You'd probably get different answers if you would go to for example Schilderswijk, neighborhood of The Hague with much more poverty and crime, or interview people from more diverse backgrounds. The people interviewed here seem to marginalize problems like discrimination, social injustice and wealth inequality which makes sense if you don't suffer from it ("well, you have those problems anywhere and it's not so bad here as in other places"), but if that's your daily reality, you would probably give a different answer.
