How can I become a web developer in 2017?

I’ve received this question multiple times on this channel and so here is my attempt at answering it.

Becoming a web developer/web designer is a great way to earn a higher salary, to work for yourself and to obtain a location independent lifestyle; a lifestyle that allows you to live and work from wherever you want.

In this video, I break down how you too can become a full stack Wordpress developer who can write both front end and back end code.

Not only that but you should be able to achieve this in 6 months or less.

Can't beat (good) books for getting to grips with something in depth.
I'd have to say, I think the Duckett book is starting to show its age. Not a bad intro, but published in 2011 and I don't believe there's ever been a second edition.
For my money, a much better book for anyone starting out is Learning Web Design by Jennifer Niederst Robbins.

Thanks for the info.. So far i am up to learning javascript and it is extremely hard for me im learning through team treehouse im going to try to learn through colt steele but im happy to know that i dont have to be a javascript expert because im really struggling

i think it would be good for me if i could offer wp skills.. there is a lot of demand for that.. and currently im trying to bootstrap my freelancing..
so could you recommend for a php online free tutorial for an c# programmer?
witch php ide is your favorite? is it better than visual studio for php?
does wp dev also expected to do the graphics design?

Brett, this is your best video, ever. I will be watching this over and over many times in the next year. I leave for Chiang Mai in 16 days to start my new life. Excuse me, English is not my first language, so I didn't understand how many pages you read in one hour, I think you said 40 pages, if so, then by no means you are a slow reader, because 40 pages of technical content in 1 hour would make you a genius, seriously. I'm a slow reader myself and I read at most 35 pages of a novel in 1 hour, if not less.

thanks for the info. I have been thinking about moving to Thailand, I am only 60 years old but I think this might make the difference in the move being a good move. something to do and making some cash too.
