No need for a horn when your middlefinger works just as good

For $6-$10 you can buy an aerosol can horn and keep it in the cup holder! Chris

Honestly, replacing the switch is a lot easier than this mod and doesn't ruin the resale value of your car. This kind of mod would be more appropriate for aftermarket fog lights. Still, love your channel Scotty

Just keep a boat air horn on the center console. Just remember to open the window before blasting. LOL

Straight to the alternator? Now that horn is Priority One!

Some things in the video that could be trolling signs:
1) Solder directly into the fuse terminal on the fuse box (bye bye fusebox)
2) Just trow a granade in the plastic panel to fit the switch, and a couple more holes for swich ventilation on each side
3) Power is taken from the Main Alternator connection (no expense).

using a bit of pipe to feed the wire through firewall is a neat idea

Had a similar problem with my horn on my 2005 Silverado. My fix was even cheaper than that. Had no problem getting airbag off and removing the horn switch assembly, it was really easy. Put a glob of solder on the tip of the spring that contacted the clockspring. Reassembled everything and my horn worked again. Already had solder and a soldering iron so my cost was $0.

My dad used a safety pin to fix the horn in the steering column in my 1993 Ford Taurus GL and he's shocked that it still works

Id be embarrassed to even show this hackjob on the internet. Few scews/bolts to remove airbag. pennys for a new or used spring switch from a wrecker or autostore and replace airbag. SHAME

I rode with a Taxi driver in Ecuador once who had one of these hooked up. but not because his main horn switch was broken, he used both. He just had a horn for either hand. The main one on the wheel, and the momentary switch on the gearshift knob.

Wirenuts under the hood seems pretty weather proof

Interesting hack, thanks for sharing. When my horn went, and I checked the components, mine was really simple - the horn broke (the part in this car that still worked - the component that makes the noise). Just disconnected the power, removed the wiring, unbolted the horn from the frame, put a new horn in and reinstalled it. Good as new. Of course I can see in this case if the car is worthless, it is worth doing.

You're a genius! The horn was just bad, not only that but the mechanic missed that there was not even a relay where it was supposed to be! They wanted to charge us several hundred dollars to trace the issue and the dealership wanted us to buy a $3500 wiring harness to the horn!

Wow... People fix cars? I just buy a new one every time the old one runs out of gas.

Check the fuse first. Always.

But great video as always Scotty!

I did something similar to this when I was a kid with my ignition switch in a 1975 Chevy Vega. My dad wasn't that impressed with my ingenuity though, since I used the trigger switch out of his electric weed whacker.
