In both Mark and Matthew we have the phrase that those who endure to the end will be saved. Does this give the impression that we can lose our salvation?

I plan on dying for Jesus, if I’m persecuted I would consider it an honor. There is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing in this world that is better than what Christ has for us on the other side. This is only temporary and I don’t want anything that has to do with this world. I don’t want to love this world. Thank you Shawn great video and God bless you

This passage from scripture is to remind us and give us hope that if we do endure to the end, we will be saved. Please note that this is not an endurance on our part but by the power of the Holy Spirit in us. He will keep us and give us strength and courage to not defect but to stay in Christ and to endure whatever comes our way. We must always remember this and as an encouragement, we cannot fall away (those who are truly of Christ) since our very salvation is a work started, in process and is completed by God Himself so that we can take no credit for that.

Really helpful thank you. I believe in eternal security. My works will prove my faith but I put no hope in them.

THE END (partial)
Heb_3:6  But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto THE END.
Heb_3:14  For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto THE END;
Heb_6:11  And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto THE END:
1Pe_1:9  Receiving THE END of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Rev_2:26  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto THE END, to him will I give power over the nations:

Wonder fully explained! Well done brother Sean, Faith indeed produces Salvation and Works by obeying God's word, growing in his Wisdom and Revelation. By walking in the Spirit not by sight. Also very important as his citizen is having a relationship with our King ❤ Godbless you my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

TBH, this topic is the only one that worries me. Living in America and being surrounded by a bunch of Christians (albeit with exceptions for work, in public, etc) doesn’t test your faith much. Yes we go through other “tribulations” but an actual testing of my faith - not so much. I pray God gives me the strength to ensure until the end

From reading the comments below, felt compelled to leave a general comment. Brothers and sisters, it looks like we have opened up a can of worms here, as this topic usually does. Let’s remember humility please when dealing with one another. We are to encourage one another, build each other up and sharpen one another as iron sharpens iron.

One thing we can all agree on (I hope), is that those of us that are truly & solely trusting in Christ for our Salvation and have the fruit of a regenerated life should be considered “in the faith”.

Now, I honestly don't know for sure whether it's eternal security or conditional security, often times the primary text my OSAS brothers and sisters use is Ephesians (amongst others), Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

It would be worth considering doing a self-study on Ephesians to see who it is written to and how many times it says "in Christ" (starting with verse 1). It seems that if you are "in Christ", then the scriptures and all the promises apply.

Is it not possible that we must receive a gift, and hold onto our gift by faith? Or is it forced upon on us and stays with us regardless of our will and what we do? Does faith not produce things, like fruit, obedience, a regenerated life etc. Not to earn something, but because you have already received a gift? When I read the scripture for myself, it seems to me that you must abide, remain, continue, run the race, endure trials/persecutions (all simply by trusting in Christ and allowing the Spirit to work in you...again not earning anything, you do this by and on the other hand there is all the "if" warnings, depart from the faith, fall from grace, be cut off, etc. if you stop trusting in Christ and forsake Him. Just something to think about, along with the scriptures below.

Hebrews 3:12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 1 Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

How is it possible to get a partial dose “taste” and only “partake” in some of the Holy Spirit? How does this fit with your doctrine of Salvation? If you believe the gospel and trust in Jesus, does not the Holy Spirit come to dwell?

2 Pet 2:15 Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, - how can you possibly forsake the straight way if you were never on it?

Col 1:21-23 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, IF indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister

Matt 13:20-21 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away

Why was the book of Galatians issuing such a strong warning of “turning to another gospel” if it were not possible? And now anyone that would preach another gospel would be accursed? Is the point of Paul’s epistle not to warn the Galatians that if they go back under the law (another gospel) they will no longer be saved? Seriously think about why this letter is written.

Then there is the parable of the virgins and the 5 foolish virgins that didn’t keep their lamp burning.

In the end, there are enough warnings in scripture, these are only a few. If you have to ignore these warnings to support your own theology, and can’t harmonize everything together, than that should cause you concern. If you believe that repentance and obedience is a work, I would be concerned with your understanding of scripture (period…no “if” “ands” “what’s” or “buts”). Check how many times repentance was used in the New Testament and in what context, and as for obedience, Jesus’ words says it all John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” 1 John 2:4 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

We are all commanded repeatedly to let know one deceive us and be Bereans, therefore we need to study the scriptures for ourselves. We will all stand alone before God and give an account. Love your brothers and sisters. Correct them with love and meekness lest you stumble yourself.

God bless.

God bless you, Sean, with providing the exegesis for this verse. I’ve just witnessed to a friend’s father named Yunus using the Way of the Master. I can only pray that God can work upon his heart so that it may be like the good soil upon which the seed of truth can grow. Please pray for him as well. Much appreciated.

Departing from THE FAITH is a true reality and I am a witness of this myself!!!
Hebrews 3:12-14
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today, " lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,

1 Timothy 4:1-2
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

Hebrews 10:29
Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Matthew 24:10
And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

Hebrews 4:1-2
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

2 Peter 3:3-4
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."

2 Peter 3:17
You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;

I think it's very important to have this assurance that a true believer will always persevere to the end, whatever joys or sorrows or strenghts or weaknesses he or she may have in his or her life ...and of course we are able to persevere because of the example of Christ, who persevered right upto the cross to save us 12)

Context matters. Once saved always saved. Simply because it’s GOD who does the saving, so it’s all on HIM! Not us. If our salvation was up to us, then NONE of us would ever go to heaven because everyone sins whether physically or mentally. Our righteousness is in Christ and what he did. Good video!

the word saved in matthew 24 is translated to the physical survival during the tribulation not salvation by many bible scholars.

Mike winger talked about this today on " thinking biblically". I think its mark 13. Not read in context a lot of times.

The tribulation period is a time for the restoration of the house of Jacob.
As believers, we’ve already been restored.
I know it sounds over simplified, but I’d encourage anyone to study Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and the minor prophets with the house of Jacob (which represents the twelve tribes) in mind.
As far as their enduring unto the end, I believe it may have something to do in type with their seven day consecration that the Israelites endured, before being consecrated to the LORD on the eighth day with Moses and Aaron.
There’s plenty of types and wording in the scriptures that we misuse that only apply to the Israelites, being Jacob, which btw has nothing to do with the modern state of Israel.
Soon the house of Jacob will come out of their spiritual slumber and come to know what we already have in Christ.
-blessings and encouragement to the saints through these difficult times.

Those who leave the faith were never real believers. And you can’t fool Jesus, the fake ones will hear, “I never knew you”
