Florence is known as Tuscany's prettiest gem, a town rich with history, art, architecture and food. I went there for 24 hours and decided to stroll and explore. My destination was a historic food/grocery shop called Pegna, which was supposed to be divine. I had to check it out!

I was in Italy the Summer of 1977 -- three months. Spent a week in Firenza. Art at every focus of the eye. It was pure Italian at that time. Not commercialized like it is now. Ate at trattorias every meal. It was fantastic. Biscotti and un cafe for breakfast.

Thank you for the lovely tour of beautiful Florence. In the aisle of pasta in the food shop I could cry along with you. Just beautiful, Grazie!

Thank you for the tour! It’s certainly more amazing in person than any video could do, but it’s nice to see it again 20 years later. I agree that late spring is probably the best time to visit: weather is gorgeous, the people are very hospitable and welcoming after much needed rest from the high season and holidays, and there’s an air of energy & vibrancy. I visited in July after a tour of Rome and it was a relief to visit a place where I could breathe and relax; if anyone has to visit during the high season, I’d definitely recommend visiting the regional cities and save Rome for another time.
