Funny how the snob can "read" the undertones of the art, wine, and music while entirely missing the surface-level cues of the conversation.

Reminds me of my lit professor in college! Kept asking for our interpretations of William Blake or the Tempest, but every freaking answer someone gave, he responded "yes, yes, yes, yes...but no." Became quite the class joke.

Everyone else talking in the comments about their interpretations of this clip is completely wrong. Here's what I got from it:

This is obviously a reference to the Hegelian Dialectic, where they both seek recognition of themselves and the world as they see it, with Hog initially taking the role of Master through his intellectual certainty, only to be overthrown by the slave foil at the end, as we all know every master will be. Hog finds the answers foil gives to be always unsatisfying, as he cannot see the slave as his equal, whereas foil eventually gets to enjoy his work, because, despite the fact they are forced by the master, they still reflect him, rather than hog, and as such he is able to take ownership of and enjoyment from his work/responses by the end.

Now what did you think of the New Zealand flag in the outro? Remember, there are no wrong answers

A friend of mine wrote a short story for class. In the story, the two friends lived on an island and did things like watched tourists like most people would watch birds. Her classmates said how the story represented transience in life, time running out, etc...

She wanted to scream “IT WAS AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL! IT WAS BORING GROWING UP THERE!” 😆
