Hi! As always, your advice is really good and logical. I particularly agree with buying your own product and taking your own photos. From my own experience, this works very well. Many years ago (long before the POD fever), I started making designed mugs when Etsy didn't even exist; I sold them on eBay. I focused on a specific theme for the mugs. I noticed that there were other sellers offering similar mugs, but mine were made with real photos while others used mockups. Despite the fact that my photos weren't particularly great, people preferred to buy from me. I did this simply out of common sense; as a buyer, I would never purchase something I haven't seen in a real photo. I believe that often one needs to pause and think like a buyer and then approach the selling process with that in mind.

Thank you for this! I'm 9 months in. I LOVE designing! I finally got my descriptions and mockups and listing to a good work flow- that has been tedious for me until now. I got lucky with one best selling design early on, but I've made around 750 products, and not seeing the sales yet to justify 50 hour weeks. Holiday season was disappointing. Hanging in there. Hi! I'm having my 1 yr anniversary in a couple weeks, I've designed way more than I've listed, somethings didn't turn out the way I envisioned them. My sales are slow rolling, BUT... Thank you!!! I always listen you. I started my store at the end of October. But really started working on it now. The biggest struggle for me to find direction. I mean a lot of niches and sub-niches possibilities. I had 12 sales, as of today. Not family only, lol Also, I am extremely bad with writing. Sections About, announcements and etc. I created logo, but will be thrilled of your opinion. However, I was not quick enough to get in your groups in January. I am on the waiting list. I will be thrilled to get your opinion. But, for now, I created plan: get 10 more listings a day, to get to, at least, 100-200 listings. I do use fabrica site, but not to slap their design on my products. Mostly for inspiration. I know which direction, niche, I am going to concentrate on now. I appreciate your honesty and excellent tips. After years with an Etsy store, I started POD less than a year ago. November and December were amazing for me, selling mostly personalized Christmas items. Now it is very slow and I just keep selling Holiday items, even now, but my other stuff is not getting anywhere. 🤷

Thanks Nick, great content as always! After a haphazard 6 months trying to grow my new shop (POD animal themed nursery prints) before finding your channel, I slowly grew my inventory to around 120 items and have started to see sales trickle in, picking up in the last few months of the year (to a very modest 14!). However my views remain very low and I am struggling to increase them with the majority of my sales coming from less than 10 views. The views also seem to drop to near zero after making a sale, before slowly recovering so finding it hard to push on but will keep persevering!

Backstory: I opened my shop and made 70 sales quickly on TV show inspired merch, got all my listings deactivated (learned my lesson), now my shop rating looks weird, had to put my shop on vacation mode for one year, now I’m rebooting my shop with a new niche. I’ve had ads on for one week, made one sale on something that’s not in my core new niche.
