Learning should be fun. Learning should be done with purpose. When students are told that they need to learn something because "it will be on the test" or "because you need it in the future," that is just plain demotivating.

If we provide context of how a skill or topic will help them do something they are interested in—improve their skateboarding skills or bake their favorite dessert—now they have a reason to learn. They will want to learn. #education #learning
