MLA's and ministers in Odisha were queuing to meet Mr Pandian. Wherever he campaigned, local MLA's were shown preparing his stage, arranging chairs. They didn't question his authority because of the support of Mr Patnaik. I think Mr Patnaik took local electorate support for granted and this happened.

There was no Anti- Pandian wave in 2014, 2019 when he was still calling the shots in Govt decisions and 5T framework. But when he started to exclude local political leaders to garner political space, that was not acceptable. That is the only thing which explains this result.
