The BJP will likely gain political ground in Odisha with India Today-Axis My India exit predicting 62 to 80 seats for the party in the 147-seat Assembly. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, may see its tally fall considerably and is likely to get 62 to 80 seats as well, as per the exit poll.

If the exit poll holds true, this could be the first time since 2004 that the BJD might not get an absolute majority in the state assembly, spelling trouble for the five-time chief minister.

2. No discussion of the BJP master stroke in nominating Srimati Draupadi Murmu as President of India and its impact on the BJP's support from SC/ST constituencies
3. Effectively, the first past the post system is returning to the 2-party system between BJP (replacing INC) and party X (regional parties), and that is a strong institutional explanation for BJP's improved results in the East (WB, Odisha) as well as Andhra/Telangana, Karnataka

BJP should ensure that BJD in power if it’s a case of hung assembly. Let Naveen Saab be there to crack all records. Otherwise sentiments of Odisha will be in another way. But BJP has to be in power with BJD and show the people of Odisha what is good governance all about.
I don’t think Naveen babu will be in electoral politics next time too, so that BJP will get all the things which we want. It will definitely be another Gujarat or Madhya Pradesh for us.

Kindly also show your 2019 prediction on Odisha, when there was Modi Tsunami. People's goodwill towards Odisha BJP has waned drastically. Odisha BJP has given tickets to contestants with criminals, goons, cheat funders, land mafias... backgrounds. The eight elected Odia BJP MPs didn't do anything to match people's expectations. Everyone, even a village Sarpanch thinks he is a strong BJP leader in Odisha. And now, Odisha BJP has 6 CM faces, each with 10 MLAs. So if two of them simply abstain, the victory is finally BJD's.

As an Odia, I think Naveen Patnaik has huge traction with Women voters due to Shakti SHG's. And there might be a gender bias in data collection of exit polls not reflecting Odia women respondents.
