Hopefully that bit doesn’t go through the roof next time or through a existing wire or pipe. If you haven’t hit anything yet means you haven’t done this long enough

Just drill a bunch of holes and tell the customer you don't do drywall

I have used these drills they work great! Also good for running low voltage. Problem is when you hit another wire or water line!

Used one of these in my living room, and it helped me find out I have a secret extra inaccessible attic space over part of the living room after we thought it went through the roof 😂

I know of people Are complaining about going through cables and pipes. I wouldn't be too worried about that honestly what i'd be more worried about with a bit like that is having my angle slightly Off and piercing the flooring upstairs

How do you know if there’s any other wiring or plumbing going through any of those rafters

I am curious, do you have any epic fails using that long drill?

This bit is good for drilling though a bottom or top plate through an opening cut for a outlet or switch box. This is super sketchy tbh and as an electrician and knowing it may cost more, but sometimes it’s just not worth causing yourself an extra headache for the hopes of saving time.

I dont care what no one says the right tool for the job makes life so good lol. Ingenuity will only get you so far

This is usually done at the bottom floor. You can do an exterior inspection and make a call on whether or not will purge utility in between. The other thing would be avoiding existing wires. You can tell by observing outlets around the room and determine if there look to be wires in the same lines as your lights. If you want to be sure pull out an outlet and put a tracer on it.

Once you send the drill bit into the hole, how many raftors are you having to drill through in each hole? I have a vaulted ceiling and I'm doing some electrical replacement right now. I haven't made it to that room yet. Only 1 overhead fan/light but a 3 way controlling it from 2 different switchplates.

How do you prevent from drilling into the upstairs floor?

I have that same one, it's a great tool but I get nervous when drilling in the on know like that 😲. What drives me crazy is how you pull the wire out without unwinding it.

We do this often, it works well, and can’t remember ever encountering anything…except fiberglass insulation, that’s stops everything!

These are cool until your 5 feet in and you don’t know what your drilling through

Only way I’m doing this is if I drill holes in the wall and inspect with an endoscope first
