Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: Medical research

This video was made in collaboration with a support group of patients diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Currently, there is a lot of research in this field and ongoing investigations for finding a cure or potential treatments for IPF. This video explains the research process, pre-clinical and clinical phases required to obtain approval for use in patients. The video starts with an overview of IPF and focuses on the overall clinical trial process by using an IPF drug known as Pirfenidone as it moves through the various stages of clinical trials. The video can also be used as a case study example of the clinical trial process. Lastly, the video introduces resources for accessing up-to-date information about various drugs and treatments that are going through the clinical trial process.
