The Merman was able to see the inner beauty of the witch. She was hurt so many times that she grew to not trust anyone anymore and felt she was ugly and worthy of no love. Love prevailed. This is such a beautiful short story with light humour.

What I appreciated the most is that it's emotionally satisfying and has a payoff at the end. So many other shorts seem to revel in distress and disturbing themes without telling an actual story with character arcs. Well done!
