Completely agree sir + 2 more thing. Few years back in an interview about sholay Salim Khan said that Mahabharata is the greatest screenplay inspiration for him as it has every emotion from brotherhood, love, betrayal, jealousy etc.

Later when Bahubali became hit, then the writer KV Vijayender Prasad sir (father of SS Rajamouli) said that Sholay is his biggest inspiration, till today when he sits to write a new story, he revises sholay once or twice to get the scale and ensemble dynamics in his mind.

The documentary should have mentioned these two points plus gotten a comment from SS Rajamouli and vijayendra Prasad too, along with all the parade of Hindi stars (some quite unnecessary to the salim-javed story)

Even if Don (1978) is inspired by China Town.. Don is a FAR better film and arguably the greatest caper film ever made in this country. The screenplay is so tight and well paced that it it's impossible to not want to watch the film multiple times.. for the reason of just reliving the thrill ride.

KGF franchise owes it's success to Salim-Javed and Amitabh Bachchan's brand of cinema.

Instead of repeated appearance of Hritik and Karina, there should hv bn more people including Ram Gopal Varma, Gulzar, Anurag Kashyap, Rajnikant, Kamal Hasan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Shekhar Kapur, Subhash Ghai, Aaditya Chopra and some serious film critics & historians. Why no bytes from Alvira and Salma Khan? More from Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha. And most importantly, their biggest critic Naseeruddin Shah should have been there. May be in S2, I guess.

8:08 it's the lense that matters. The director/writer's lense. In the end, Gabbar got what was coming to him, a brutal gruesome death to pay for his sins. And well, in Animal... Do I need to say it?

Salim-Javed's films were not just "masala" films. They were beyond entertainment.. they reflected the socio political and cultural sensibilities of those times and transcended genres/mediums..
Deewar and Shakti are not just "masala" films..
You can say that Prakash Mehra and Manmohan Desai made pure masala films... Salim-Javed's scripts were much more than just masala.
