I am Pakistani who was born Muslim, as i started to explore spirituality and my soul and its purpose, with time i have figured out many soul companions and guides, including Jada Pinket Smith, Radhi Shetty, Sadhguru, Raddhinat Swami, Gutman Buddha, Shams of Tibrez, Rumi, Bulle Shah. Seems to me message of Gita is not to identify oneself as Hindu, or any other temporary material thing. After all the word Hindu is nowhere mentioned in the Scriptures and is a recent thing. Also it divides People as we are all Spirit Souls part of the Supreme Spirit. When People are divided they fight over the smallest things. But I have to admit that nowadays things are complicated due to falsely identifying with the body. Jai Shri Rama. Jai Shri Krishna. Jaya Radhay.

I don't know where and in which Gita it is said that "when we understand other we understand the universe". I think the Hindu philosophy emphasizes on knowing ourselves first to know the universe. So, it is more like "tat tvam asi" i.e. you yourself contain the tatva you are are looking for.
