Fantastic video, well done... I own both the G2 and the “Wireless go” and have exactly the same issues as described in this video.. There’s no way I would use the wireless Go for anything professional... They’re great for vlogging, personal messages and anything light hearted but otherwise - not a chance.. 🥴

There's a very distinct different producing a much richer sound from the Sennheiser. The Rode mics are toys, tbh. Great channel man, keep it up!

Thanks for this and thanks to Curtis Judd. Before him, every YouTuber was raving about how awesome the Video Mic Go is, but the weak signal makes it practically worthless

Thanks so much for this. I have a few G2's that have been collecting dust. Now I know that there's no reason at all to step up to new audio/mic technology. G2 should be perfect.

I can not believe the amount of reviews praising the wireless go and not mentioning how the audio cuts out when someone turns around. That is a HUGE issue. I returned all three I purchased. Never again. You get what you pay for.

I've been searching videos about Go and your video pushed to me. Thanks for the video. I can hear easily that G2 is much better. Your channel is not big but you're sharing some important information people need to know before they buy.

I think its important to be aware with the Sennheiser G2 that they use the same frequency spectrum as TV's and other mics with no interference avoidance.

By which I mean, it MAY be either illegal to operate in certain countries or interfere with other mic systems or have your mic interfered with whilst recording. Where as the RODE system works on 2.4ghz (WiFi) frequencies which are legal world over and do their own frequency avoidance.

TLDR: You can just turn on the RODEs and they will work without issue. Turning on the Sennheiser's you could cause major problems for others depending on the frequency it is set at and therefore has a layer more complexity

Great advice, dud. Confirmed my worries about the Rode - line of sight is a necessity. I can't gamble on always having that!

Drop Test FTW!!! Great video yet again Justin! I enjoyed! It's funny that you mention the Beachtek because, I was debating on that and the Saramonic version. I saw a few YT video comparisons, but now I know that Beachtek is the best choice to try out cause another budget filmmaker is recommending it! Thanks again man!

Honestly I cannot stress enough about checking that your Sennheiser's are both legal and not interfering with others. 99% of my work related problems come from camera crews who rock up and just turn their kit on without check or understand how it works. I have seen this quite literally grind press conferences to a halt

To me, for sure the Sennheiser sounded better. I have been thinking of getting the new Rode wireless, but you've almost talked me out of it. I am becoming more interested in that Beachtek though. I would love to maximize sound quality. Enjoyed this vid quite a lot!

I’m not an American citizen, but does my subscription count as a vote? :)

Also, I love the very subtle mention to “all the pretty b-roll out there”, which is exactly how many big youtubers get views, even if their reviews are crap. You’ve probably noticed how many reviews of big brand products are just “OMG THIS IS SO DOPE EPIC CINEMATIC YOU’LL WIN AN OSCAR WITH IT”, and then you watch the pros like Curtis Judd for the eye openers and hard lessons.

I came because I am looking at XSW-D and wireless Go, with a budget exess to use by end of week, saw this wasn't best compare, though backs up my brand loyalty to Sennheiser, I mean I have a RODE shotgun mic, because "that's the one you buy" but most of my sound tools like headphones are Sennheiser. That's as a 20 year VJ, (video guy in music world)

Thanks for this great comparison. I'm however confused between buying Sennheiser 112p G4 and Rode Wireless Go II. Please help.

Hey Justin, what is your best Field recorder would you recommend for an indie filmmaker? Expensive or cheap but professional

I understand what your saying about the rode wireless go cutting out but i think your being unfair, it's operates on 2.4ghz and clearly states it's line of sight so comparing other than sound quality is not a good comparison when they clearly operate on different frequencies.
