Instead of duplicating the wireframe object, you could untick "replace original" and mess with the material offset

While this is a perfectly great way to do it, you could get a similar result using just the shader.

The advantages of using a shader is: i) you don't have extra scene geometry ii) you can apply same shader to multiple objects and get same result very quickly

You know you don't have to make two simplified versions of the mesh, you can only make one and then uncheck 'Replace original' and set the material offset to a different material.

if you are having trouble with your boolean not showing correctly, make sure to change from exact to fast boolean

It would be nice to have the same effect but then being done with an Holdout if possible (might be more performant, but maybe also problemetic with emmision shaders for example).

This is one way to do it but my computer definitely couldn’t handle a moving Boolean like that I think shaders would be more efficient

nice one! but, when i want to render it, the "boolean" box appears with solid, not displayed as wire. how to overcome this?

hey i ran to a problem, the problem is when i render it the cube that supose to be invisible is visible in the rendering, i already pick the wire and its only invisible in the viewport not on the rendering. PLZ help, thank you btw!

So if I wanted to make a room of black squares with glowing green edges, would I just stop with duplicating the simplified model and removing the wireframe modifier?
