I Bought An ABANDONED Hot Boi BMW Station Wagon (CHEAP)

A slammed BMW station wagon that's been sitting in a forest? What could possibly go wrong? I bought this 2006 BMW 325xi Touring sight unseen and drove over 2 hours to pick it up... then try to drive it home.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Common Questions:

What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus

What do I do for a living? Make YouTube videos.

Can you wheelie? No, I suck.

Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.

Where can I keep up with you off the bike?

Instagram: WatchJRGo

Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)

Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.

Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.

Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.

Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo

Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

The wagon format really needs to have a comeback. They are such a versatile vehicle and it seems like the only country that seems to dislike them (generally speaking) is the USA. They'll fit in a regular size garage and will haul most things that people typically don't have professionally delivered.

The channel needed more station wagons. Nice! Can't wait for the next video!

An E91 Touring is always a win! Great video!

P.S: The fob has to be paired again to the car, there's a relatively simple procedure that involves cycling the ignition multiple times while pressing some buttons on the fob

Hey John, I don’t often read the comments so this may have already been asked and answered. I love the fact that you have been including Gabe in your recent videos. He’s always a great guest or addition to the channel. Having said that, I’m curious to know if he’s recently retired from the Air Force. Whatever has allowed him to participate in the channel, I’m glad he seems him.

If you have trouble with the remote, its receiver lives underneath the back window spoiler thing. It can be prone to moisture intrusion, plus its wires run through the whole double hinge situation and are quite prone to breaking (fix to better than factory standard if you want it to last).
BTW, only trust CR2032s if they are above 3.0 V, some people even prefer 3.1 V. They don't drop much in voltage but their internal resistance goes through the roof. Cheapies can be quite bad for this in general, so in more power-hungry applications (not just a CMOS battery) you can expect a marked difference in performance.

I agree that these wheels are waaaay too big. Unsprung mass and ride comfort clearly weren't a priority, and it doesn't even look good. I'd look up what the factory wheel / tire spec is. Apparently it's 205/55R16 on 7Jx16 ET34... yep, 16" sounds a lot more like it. With 19s it should have had 255/30s in the back.

For the way it sounds like this has been treated the last few years and the fact that it’s an 18 year old BMW, I think it did damn good.

I think you’re the right person to save this car and give it some dignity back, JR.

I’m glad you picked it up because it really does seem worth saving.

Good luck! I’m really looking forward to seeing your progress on this one.

I have a 2008 e91. These cars are great! The perfect DD in my opinion. Also very easy to work on.

Just remember, since it's a BMW, if it's not dripping oil, then it is out of oil

Congratulations on 400, 000 subscribers my friend. Looking forward to seeing more clapped out cars get fixed up in the future. If you ever come to Alaska, you can help me unstick the engine in my 63 Le Mans lol

Normally not a fan of BMWs but I do enjoy the wagons, hope to see this old girl get brought back to its former glory.
Its a shame that alot of Automaters in the NA market killed off their wagons, only the Euro brands having brand new ones.
Though I am excited that the Toyota is bringing one back with the Crown Signia! Station Wagons and Minivans are extremely useful vehicles when it comes to moving stuff~

Do not, i repeat do not open/tilt the roof before you make sure that the slides are lubed up! I tried it when I bought my 2011 wagon years ago and the rear glass was stuck in the up position for my 11 hour drive back from buying the car 😂.

The 4x4 error is most likely due to a stripped gear in the transfer case actuator. It uses an electric motor with plastic gears to engage the clutch for the front drive shaft. The plastic gears only last about 60k miles before they strip out. You can get after market aluminum gears and it’s an easy fix. About 20 mins with a lift.
