I don’t have a kit, I just work on rudiments on a practice pad. But do you have any tips on grip? I mostly use the American match grip and know where the ideal fulcrum point on my sticks are. My problem is that the sticks will eventually start slipping one way or the other in the middle of a rudiment and I start getting less efficient rebound, and tightening my grip just makes my hands and forearms tense up at faster tempos. Is there something I should be doing differently from a technical standpoint, or is it as simple as adding something like some athletic tape to the stick to improve the grip?

I love all these popular grooves, great to pick up & play ... it makes me think though, is there a drum equivelent of "No Stairway!" ... is there an intro, beat or fill that will get you kicked out of the music shop if you sat down & played it?

My daughter went to a local college to have a tour of their music offering for post high school, there was a lovely set of drums in their studio and the guy asked if she played drums, "No ... but Dad does" ... and I regret not having the confidence to sit down and smash something out :-(

Just started to learn at 53. Any tips on figuring out why with doing anything off " the beat" my foot feels like it's nailed to the floor. Can't seem to get the 4th measure at a descent tempo.
