Saw this coming intuitively in my 20’s and 30’s without being yet able to explicitly verbalize it and fully accept how far society in general and most women in particular diverted so far from my own values, that most of them would not make a successful and trustworthy, close, intimate wife or girlfriend. I continued pouring time and resources into challenging outdoor climbing hobbies and physical pursuits. In better shape at 40, than at 20, have never stopped, never will stop. Money only matters to me insofar that it funds a great nutrition plan, equipment, security and trips. I’m not likely to need it for medical expenses in old age barring bad luck. A sense that something went wrong and life could be enriched with a great relationship may linger in the back of your mind. But life can still be exciting and worthwhile regardless. A lot of joy still over here.
