Forgot to prepare the chalkboard after painting by rubbing chalk across the board and then wiping with a cloth. If you don't do this you won't be able to erase properly. And you should let the paint cure for 3 days after 2nd coat. I like to sand after primer and first coat with 3M synthetic steel wool instead of sandpaper.

Moved into a house. Want to add a chalk wall for my kids. Would I just need to do a primer then paint?

Hi. I made a chalkboard myself following your instructions. Everything is OK, but I couldn´t find the proper material to wipe it out. I tried a piece of cloth, sponge, and many other materials. Any suggestions? Thank you very much.
