Hi Chucjk! I've been watching this video and am sure glad to find you. My home is on a sloped property. I only discovered my drainage problem when I was insulating in my crawlspace and found it partially flooded. Watching your video gave me confidence I could do the work to fix the problem. Yes it is hard work. With some help from a few friends, I dug out around the foundation to the footer and followed your directions to waterproof, gravel, and pipe the water out to the street. Thank you for posting this video so diyers like myself can confidently do this. I will be 71 in about a week and am grateful for good health enabling me to complete this job!! I really appreciate it.

As a single woman with a house with water issues this video has been invaluable. Thank you so much for keeping it simple for those of us who have no choice but to DIY.

Thank you for explaining what a drain tile is, and also how it works. I keep hearing that phrase “drain tile” and there is no tile to be seen lol. I kept wondering how this black pipe is supposed to direct water as well. Most videos don’t explain that there are perforations on the bottom. It just looked like a solid strip of corrugated pipe to me before this video, and I was wondering how the water was supposed to get in. This video helped a lot.

Chuck THANK You! I watched this video four years ago and last month I finally found myself in a situation where I needed all of this information. Thanks to you I just successfully laid 270 feet of footer tile French drains + solid pipe around my house with solid pipe connecting in all my downspouts and 5 catch basins all trying in and going out to daylight at the end of my property. I Used rubber coat #57 around the foundation, and also installed a dry well, sump pump, and lastly a silt trap for a channel drain off my driveway. I would not have had the confidence or had the knowledge to do it if it had not been for you! Thank you

I’ve done this on a few old houses and what I do is use a tiller or mini tiller in the dirt and it makes it easier to spread.looks great

Here in Canada, your video helped me install a dig sump pump system this winter. I need help with waterproofing my basement interior on my shared leaking wall. Its a side by side house with almost no possibility of trenching the exterior. Thanks a million

Thank you for this excellent video! My house has significant crawlspace flooding everytime we get heavy rain and I have been looking for this exact information so I can do this myself. I am also going to install a vertical drain in a low spot in my backyard thanks to your latest videos.

You are offering a lot of great knowledge to us diy people. And you present it in a manor that makes it seem very doable for the average John Q Public. Like me. Thanks so much.

The schedule thanks for the video thanks for the motivation I prefer the schedule 40 pipe so that it doesn't risk getting crushed and being worthless also I like covering the gravel with some fabric so that it doesn't fill up with mud I do appreciate what you do and what you're showing it's great and I do appreciate it

Thank you for all of this information this is so difficult when you're a single woman trying to fix a problem like this but I'll have to do it myself since I don't have any help.

Yea, I am also female and have to do this myself. Thank you so much for wonderful instructions! I also have termite issues. AND I was not told about the obvious problems with the home. I do also have some roofing issues, but I am going to have to save up for someone to do those. ugh...

That's because the utilities are on the other side. Always call 811 before you dig! Thanks

We just purchased a home in North Carolina that's on a sloped lot and whenever it rains hard I think have water coming in through the foundation into the crawlspace. Thankfully there's only one portion of the foundation on the slope the other side is still flat where the driveway is. I think I'm going to try and tackle this project!

Thank you for the great how-to. I recently discovered that the drainage around my foundation and bulkhead is all screwed up, leading to some water penetration in my basement. Refinishing the basement is a costly thing that I was hoping to do in 5 years, not 3 months... and while I'll have to hire a mason to re-do the hardscaping (that's sloped to get all of the water on my patio right against my basement window), I feel much better about using trenching and gravel to waterproof my exterior.

Thank you 🙏 boss . You really taught me something very super important thing to know. This taught is like 100 years of experience or more just to get it if it wasn’t for your help. I really love your skills. It’s amazing what you know. Thank you again from my deepest heart.
