Mortgage Reduction Grants. Government pays down your mortgage.

Homeowners Assistance Fund contains a mortgage assistance provision that allows government money to be used to pay down homeowners principal. Federal rules allows for grants between $25,000 to $80,000, depending on the state, to be paid to eligible homeowners who are under the threat of losing their homes due to Covid-19. HAF, the $10 billion dollar fund, allows states to pay off a portion (or all) of a homeowners mortgage in order to make monthly mortgage payments more affordable. Attorney Diego G. Wow this has taken so long . Nothing for NJ yet and now after my forbearance has ended, I had to apply for a modification. What a shame to lose out on this grant when the $$ has been there for so long .

What if my state is not rolling out with the program till spring but I'm on my last month of my Forbearance plan. Should I not do a loan modification and just defer my lump some payment to the end of the loan till spring?

What if they offered me a modification which is tapping on another 10 years and only lowered my mortgage $40 a month and they lowered my interest rate 2.75 from 4.5, then added the escrow shortage. Now my payments above what my original payment would be. So I have a three-month trial period of paying this new mortgage amount can I still get that money from HAF?
THE $50, 000 LIMIT IS THAT JUST PER STATE? OR PER PERSON AND HOW DID THEY DETERMINE WHO WILL GET IT?
