SERBIA IS A LIE 🇷🇸

Travel Documentary Serbia/Belgrade. 🇷🇸 Serbia – the epicenter of former Yugoslavia – is perhaps Europe’s most controversial country and our first time there was NOTHING LIKE WE EXPECTED or were told! Join us as we break through the stereotypes and explore the real Serbia.

We are in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital, to find out what this Balkan nation is truly like. Along the way, we discover personal stories and authentic perspectives from Serbians. A graffiti saying "When the army returns to Kosovo" expresses the unresolved tensions since Kosovo’s declaration of independence in 2008, a move Serbia can’t accept as it considers Kosovo as part of its territory. "Don't trust the media!" one local tells us, encouraging us to see Serbia through the eyes of its people and make up our own minds.

Serbia’s deep ties with Russia, rooted in shared history, culture, and religion, are hard to miss. Outside the Church of Saint Sava, a symbol of Serbia’s Orthodox faith, we spot slogans like "Go Russia, go!". Yet Serbia is pursuing EU membership and is cautiously balancing its relations with both East and West.

But Serbia isn’t all about politics. We explore its laid-back side in Tasmajdan Park, its rich food scene in lively Skadarlija, its love for sports like boxing, tennis and basketball – where global stars such as Novak Djokovic and Nikola Jokić were born – and we meet very welcoming locals. From street musicians to a former military officer to beautiful Serbian ladies … Serbia’s true charm lies in its people, revealing a softer side behind its tough reputation!

As we visit Belgrade’s landmarks – from the historic Belgrade Fortress to the modern Belgrade Waterfront to the scars of the NATO bombings in 1999, we witness how this city and its people carry the weight of their history while looking toward the future. "Serbia is free to upgrade yourself,“ a Russian expat tells us, reflecting on the freedom he has found here.

Hi people, it's Milan from the beginning of the video. First of all, I would like to thank Nicole and Roberto for making this video about our country (although you could make it without me on the video thumbnail :D) I can see the video is already viral so let's take an opportunity and not spread the hate but speak a good word about our country and our nation. The world will always see us as a CONTROVERSIAL country because we are a proud, small Orthodox country, with a great history, that stood against the greatest intruders like the Ottomans and NATO. Nicole and I talked a lot about the wars in Krajina, Republika Srpska, Kosovo, and Ukraine but I asked her not to put that part in this video because it would make it change its purpose.
Nicole and Roberto, I wish you all the best! You are always very welcome in Serbia!

Germany killed millions in two World Wars, England and other western European countries enslaved half a planet, but still Serbia is the most controversial country in the Europe? Ok, sure thing!

Serbia is an underrated country. It has great atmosphere, delicious food, natural beauties and lovely people. Just because the media shows untrue stories about it. Greetings from Turkey.

I work in a call center for North America and I find it amazing that 3 random 13-year-old girls on the street in Belgrade speak better English than 50% of "Americans".

My husband and I have been in Serbia for over a month now, and people are SO warm, and sweet, and nice. Most of them speak English (I speak several languages, but I can only grasp a few words/phrases in Serbian) and always willing to help. I'm Argentine-Italian, and we've travelled through several countries in Europe. So far, Romania and Serbia are the ones we like the most. PS. Serbian men are super hot; big bulges, lolll. I highly recommend you people to visit Belgrade, it's an amazing city with amazing people. You won't regret it!!! Big hug!!! :D

It is ONLY controversial, because of the world media and press. Period. It’s the most real country in Europe. True to its values, traditions, rich history… not buying into the western wokeness and globalist ideas. Western media has the role of upholding that, which is why they label Serbia as controversial. That’s the bottom line.

Why is it controversial? It’s one of the oldest countries in Europe with a very difficult history, mostly due to effects of big world powers politics. Serbia is a survivor. What is controversial about fighting for own survival? Perhaps the fact that it has managed to survive?

Malagurski's Weight of Chains documentary (among other things) explains well that NATO aggression had nothing to do with "protecting" Albanian minority, but with the NATO/US need to enforce neoliberal economic system onto entire EU/West Europe. Creating a vassal state is just a temporary result of it. Under international law (UNSCR 1244), Kosovo and Metohia is still part of Serbia (with undetermined future status). Western media, of course, will not tell you that.

What is controversial about Serbia? NATO bombing was illegal where NATO as defensive military organization turned to an offensive one and attacked a country that did not attack a single NATO member and all of that without a UN approval.
