It’s sweet how after all that she left on the stage. She smiles and scampers away like a proud kid at a recital.

Over 50 years later and it still makes my jaw drop. She could sing like an angel and shift right into balls-out banshee.

FYI... The woman in sunglasses who was saying wow, is Cass Elliott of The Mammas and The Pappas. She was known as Mamma Cass. Woman could sing ANYTHING!

All she ever wanted was to be loved. She was rejected by her parents. Netflix has/had a good doc on her.

What a voice. I don't even want to wonder how much pain this person went through to get a voice like that. It's like a primal scream sometimes.

They showed Cass Elliot out in the crowd and Mama Cass seemed pretty impressed.

Janice Joplin put her all into every song she did.

Bessie Smith was a huge influence. Janis paid for Smith’s gravestone the moment she realized Bessie didn’t have one. Joplin was a beautiful soul that the world chewed up without a care. #ripjanis

In 3 short years, she became a legend. She made you feel it.

That "wow" was from Momma Cass. A musical force in her own right.
The movie "The Rose" was loosely based on Janis' life. Explains a lot.

U know, before grunge hit in the early 90’s,
People like Janis, Jim Morrison, etc made me believe i missed my time because of how much id have loved to see them & experience them! But i changed when grunge hit because it speaks to me so much. That said, there’s no one like Janis, i love her & always will.. 🤟🖤

I was a little kid at the time and was used to women with melodic voices. Janis scared the heck out of me. Then I listened again when I got older and discovered how great she was. Another one who left us much too soon.

Hank Williams Sr. Died of drugs and alcohol back in 1953.

As for Janis Joplin, this was the performance to see. It set her on the map.
