The biggest Japanese blunder at Pearl harbour is that they didnt destroy the Repair yards and other stuff.

Japan: let me just grab some resources from my Colonies
Europe: No that right is reserved for us!

They didn't hit the carriers, oil storage, or repair yards. I also think Yamamoto said that the worst casesenario would be to hit the Pacific fleet but leave the carriers intact which is exactly what happened

The only good thing that Japan did to the Philippines is encouraging the people to speak their local languages, and because of that local languages(and dialects) did not disappear.

The background to the attack on Pearl Harbour was the conflict over US economic sanctions (especially the oil and steel embargoes) and Japan's growing influence in Asia.
US pressure (The Hull Note, created by US Secretary, Cordell Hull on 26 November 1941) pushed Japan towards WW2, and the Roosevelt administration, wary of the growing influence of Nazi Germany, intensified pressure on its friend and comrade Japan as a means to provoke war.

The US government was also concerned about the use of the atomic bombs.
In addition, Roosevelt's wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, was very interested in the market for China at the time, so there may have been concern that Japan might interfere with trade routes with China.

The US government explained that the atomic bombs were intended to "Save many lives", but it was believed that nuclear weapons were used as an alternative to the "Final War on the Japanese mainland" (Operation Downfall, Operation Olympic & Operation Coronet), which was expected to result in a huge death toll, with a total of 1, 000, 000 Japanese KIA & over 100, 000 assumed dead in the US military.
It is said that nuclear weapons were used as an alternative and that this was "to save many lives".

In addition, nuclear bombs were being developed as quickly as possible by the US in order to win the race against the Nazis, who were likely to develop their own nuclear weapons.

Japan already won the Pacific War after Pearl Harbor, if only they hitting also other important targets at Harbor or just winning at Midway.

As Yamamoto said himself that Japan had 6 months to win the war or they would lose and about 6 months later midway happened

Not to mention most of the ships docked in pearl harbour were older battle ships whilst the USs air carriers were still at sea. If those air carriers were docked in pearl harbour during the attack the battles of both the coral sea and midway would of been very different and could of stalled the US involvement even more.

They only hit the ships not the repair or fuel areas so the USA was back up running fast and the Japanese went quickly but the US dominated with the UK

Pearl Harbor was largely a failure for Japan as it failed to take out the US carrier fleet. Had the fleet been docked at Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack, the war would likely have gone a lot differently
