I saw this movie in theaters in Panama 1987. I was 7 and i went with my dad. Tonight i went to see Top Gun: Maverick with my 11 year old daughter. I just showed her this trailer and she couldnt believe how young Maverick and Ice looked!

I saw it with a few of my fellow soldiers when it was in the first release and countless times since. "So, you're the one." "Yes, Ma'am." IMHO, it remains of the coolest films of the genre. Two thumbs and up!

I remember watching it 10 years ago
Forgot the supporting cast; Michael Ironside, Meg Ryan, Tim Robbins, and Val Kilmer
Still an okay vehicle for Tom Cruise, the real reason to watch this is for the air jet scenes which are filmed phenomenally
The songs Danger Zone and Take My Breath Away by new wave band Berlin pop up a lot, Take My Breath Away quickly became a worldwide hit, reaching the Top 5 in 16 different countries and becoming the one of the most popular songs of 1986, the soundtrack became one of the best selling of all time selling over 9 million copies
The soaring ballad even took home the Oscar for best original song
The Navy played an active role in the production, allowing fighter jets, pilots and the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier to be used plus vetoing anything that wasn't accurately portrayed when flying
Sadly a crew member was lost during a training rehearsal
Still it's the story of fighter pilots - their internal rivalry with one another, heroism when called on by their country and a deeply ingrained “need for speed"
Jan. 29. 1986, an advance screening of Top Gun took place in Houston
The day before, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded in one of the most dramatic disasters in American aviation history
Emotions were still high with the audience that turned up to see Top Gun; its reaction to the film reflected that fragility
The movie made no. 1 at the box office while its loud, powerful and patriotic energy perfectly reflected Regan-era America
Thanks largely to the movie's popularity, U.S. Navy recruitment soared by 500 percent

Just watched Top Gun 1 and trust me The way Tom Cruise react feels like he is actually a Jet fighter. What a phenomenal actor he is!!! Especially when he is infront of his sir.
