In finish trim carpentry the first thing is to get those doors set! Upon arrival at this commercial job the painters had the doors separated so this is how they got set! Install the casing on one side first, hang the door, check your gaps, and nail off. It's much faster.

Been installing doors for 15 years. It’s nice to see real videos. I do the same thing setting the frame with my 16 ga including shooting through the shims. If you haven’t tried EZ-hang clips they work pretty good too

Man, everyone is an expert and knows the right way to do it.
Reading you all's comments, everyone's way is the right way, but no 2 are the same.
How about every guy does it the way that works for him?
I have my way, but I'm sure it's a little different from everyone else.

Foam is fine for interior doors. You still need to put shims though to adjust reveals. Use the fiberglass shims that break off easily. Im a Master door Installer and always like to learn new techniques. Sometimes being plum and squared doesn't do it. If you know you know what I'm saying.

Not knocking this way of hanging doors, but what if the framing wasn’t done properly and your door is hinge bound? I always use split jam pretrimmed doors (sometimes have to replace trim), and I always set it in the hole then use a level on the hinges to get the door perfect

You should buy a Bosch lazer level it makes it so much easier for everything, from framing to installing doors

Shims are for old school guys
I can do 10doors with 1 can of LOAD BEARING EXPANSION FOAM
And the foam will never dry out or shrink like a shim

Plus if you don't stamp the door and the jamb the painter will mix them up and then call you back to fix it

Is the door really tall or is the guy really short?

The door keeps swinging because the jamb isn’t level. Don’t install the jamb flush with the drywall, level both strike and hinge side of the jamb, both ways, also be sure you’re plunger cut out on the slab lines up exactly with the strike plate cut cutout in the jamb.
