UK pop band The 1975 has been banned from Malaysia after its frontman kissed a fellow male bandmate onstage and criticised the country's anti-LGBT laws. While the government was quick to shut down the festival they were playing at, local advocates argue the band doesn't have to deal with the consequences of the band's actions. Dhia Rezki is the deputy president of JEJAKA, an advocacy and support group for the Queer community in Malaysia. He tells The World the event and the backlash that followed was not "in our favour".
