In this video, I'll be telling you about Zed AI which is a new AI based code editor that allows you to generate applications with AI and it is fully opensource. This is a fully opensource and free Cursor AI alternative. You can also use it as a VS Code Alternative with AI features. This AI Code Editor comes with free Claude 3.5 Sonnet usage and it also supports Local models usage via Ollama. It is an AI Coding Agent or Text-To-Application tool that is super easy to use. It can generate code with Claude-3.5-Sonnet, Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama and Any other Model and it can also generate whole NextJS, Python and other applications within seconds. I thought this was a winner - definitely for free Cluade 3.5 usage but no automatic code add for files and more in cursor paid plan.

Great review as usual, ty. I've found that $20 for cursor for unlimited sonnet is worth it, but obviously depends on how much you use it of course. The new multi file composer in Cursor is nice for lowcoders dealing with more complex apps. Agentic agents add up and often are limited by anthropic due to 1 min restrictions and overall daily limits. We face changes literally daily so who knows what we'll be using next week however the Openai structured output will be very interesting as the impact on agentic engines, will be pretty nice.

I still think aider is better only because it has git so if you're creating an application you plan on pushing to a server having git makes it very easy to push to GitHub and such. Plus at the end of the day Claude sonnet 3.5 is still the best for coding whether its in zed or aider

Have you tried to compare gpt4o, claude sonnet, and llama 3.1 (maybe 70B) performance in cosing?

Not yet available for windows. You can do a build, but it requires a lot of steps & dependencies.
