They are a three piece, that was an additional guitarist. I would suggest Lay it on the line from the 1983 US Festival. Rik's vocal range is amazing and yes they are also Canadian. Another three member Canadian band to check out is The Tea Party, I suggest Sister Awake live Much More Music Toronto. They have a middle eastern feel to a lot of their music and use some very different instruments along with the usual ones. Cheers

They just used a touring guitarist. Rik Emmett is an insanely talented dude. His vocal range alone is just crazy. Triumph was my first BIG ROCK SHOW back in the day. Lay it on the Line live at the US Festival 1983 is a really good one, as is Fight the Good Fight live in Halifax.

Any of their songs from the US Festival 1983 are awesome! They killed it there, plus, it was just the three of them. 😎🎸

Looks like they added another guitarist for this show which surprised me as well - but Triumph is a 3 piece band. Lay it on the Line is a good tune as well as World of Fantasy

Triumph is a great choice!
“Fight the Good Fight” is my favorite of theirs.

Gil Moore is no Neil Peart but Gil does sing lead vocals and plays drums on some Triumph songs and is a great vocalist as well. Plus he was the managing leader of the band. The Bass player Mike Levine played keyboards and worked on there production and sound engineering. So the 3 member played big rolls as a whole. Great band.

Yes, they are a 3 piece. In the 80's they added another guitar on tour. Absolutely incredible band.

I saw Triumph twice in 78-79 and they were only a Trio. In later tours they had Rick Santers, another Toronto guitarist/ keyboard helping fill things out live.

My favourite 3 pieces: Kings X; Zebra; Budgie; Primus; Biffy Clyro; Dust; Freak Kitchen; Melvins; Sugar; The Vintage Caravan
(discounting the big ones: ZZ Top; Cream; Hendrix Experience; Beck, Bogart & Appice; Mountain; Motorhead; Muse; Green Day)

As other comments have said, they added Rick Santers as an extra guitarist/keyboardist for this tour. If you really want go get a feel for their talent and performance, you must watch the US Festival videos. My recommendation is Never Surrender, Fight the Good Fight or Lay it on the Line.

It is a 3 piece band, but the second guitarist wrote a song titled Take A Stand. So the band just invited him to tag along.

A MUST song to listen to from Triumph is Lay It On The Line. It's one of the songs that defined "arena rock".

Guest Rick Santers from Rainbow. He toured with them for a year and wrote a song with them. Listen to Fight The Good Fight from the 1983 US Festival in San Bernadino, California. Over 350, 000 in attendance.

The very first rock concert I went to was Triumph when I was 11. If you decide to check out another Canadian band, hit up Kim Mitchell and listen to Go For A Soda or All We Are. In fact, you might like All We Are due to the time signature.

saw them in 1979...lucky enough to be up front on the rail, which added to the ambiance. but it was a great concert. They were 3 piece when i saw them.,

Please check out Triumph Live at the US Festival singing Fight The Good Fight. Triumph stole the show. They absolutely are a 3 piece band. Toward the end of their run management made them bring in another guitarist. Triumph is made up of Rik Emmett, Gil Moore & Mike Levine. That's Triumph. Thank you so much for playing this

There were a couple of guitarists that played backup guitar on tour for a while, but Triumph is a 3 piece, and only those three all three times I saw them. Most notable was the 1983 US Festival that has a DVD of the entire show, and some songs available on Youtube.
