Also for those still keeping it in the plastic wrapper. It’s not sterile. It never was sterile. Take it out of there and train with it and have it ready so you don’t bleed to death please.

These came out during Iraq and Afghan wars. The research was conducted on soldiers loosing limbs due to IED strikes.
These tourniquets work, saved a lot of lives.

Gonna start pre-tourniqueting before fire fights just in case

You just need to make sure you put it on the right side of the wound, otherwise it's useless!

My Grandfather Sgt Yankee Davison WWI had Shrapnel take his right knee out. Rolled into a ditch and took off his belt and used it as a tourniquet. It saved his his life but they had to take his leg. Gangrene set in twice and had to remove more each time. I wouldn't be here if he hadn't thought quickly to apply a tourniquet.

I just put one around every major area before I go out. Saves time.

Just always remember it goes ABOVE the wound, so for wounds on the chest or abdomen, make sure you apply it to the neck. You know it’s on correctly if you can’t palpate pulses. Good luck out there, comrades.

There can be issues based on (oldet)age or blood conditions to be aware of

Yeah, in the military we’d always practice by fully cinching it down. If the tourniquet hurts more than the injury, you did it right

The "research " states for Extreme injury. Not for practice.
If you crank down on a tourniquet that is wrapped around a limb.. you will have damage.

Always note time of applying the tourniquet. Most tourniquets have an area where you can write the time applied down.

That's actually great to know, u would have guessed nerve and cell death would have started way sooner. I always thought that you were saving life but causing damage to the limb. I'm glad to learn otherwise.

I've done enough research to know I don't want that thing on me until I need it.

When it works, it'll hurt so good you'll know it's working👍

Practice with the tools you expect to be able to use!

If the tourniquet doesn’t hurt more than the bullet wound or missing leg, it isn’t tight enough. And 2 hours is a fuckin time. Too long.

You should be loosening it for 10 minutes after every hour it has been on.
