In the prologue of totk, it is assuming you did the full ending of botw with all 120 shrines, but if you do that you end up with 2 less hearts just like in this game, so link canonically used the glitch at hateno to max out his heart count

Fun fact: at the start of the game, you only have 30 hearts, rather than the 40 heart limit. This is a callback to BoTW, when the limit was 30 due to the fewer amount of shrines. So you actually don't start with max hearts.

152 means that they are 8 away from 160 which is a nicer number. That gives you 2 extra hearts which would mean that at least 8 more normal shrines will come in the DLC.

At the beginning of totk link has the max hearts of botw (30). If you do the main quests and a side quest, you get about seven heart containers of the new max for totk (40).

Actually, if you count the hearts in the beginning, it’s 30, which was the max from BotW. ToTK has a max of 40 so you actually have 8 more hearts than you did in the beginning of the game…

The "max hearts and stamina" shown at the beginning is actually only 30 hearts. Your heart meter that's short by two is 38 hearts, because your max possible hearts in this game is 40, while it was only 30 in the previous one.

You can't get full hearts and Stamina in Breath of the Wild too. Well only one, You have to choose between stamina vessel and heart container.

Well at the beginning link has 30 hearts like in botw compared to having 38 that you presented

It actually shows Link with rhe max from botw at the start of the game, which is less than the max in totk. There are fewer in each row during the intro.

You're able to get more hearts than you had when the game started. In the beginning of the game, Link had 30 hearts. But in the rest of TotK, you're able to get 40 hearts, 38 if you had already gotten all Stamina Vessels.

DLC in botw added a total of 8 shrines so it's mysteriously convenient that they left a DLC sized hole in our healthbar

there could be a dlc. In BOTW, the 4 shrines during the champion’s ballad gave you spirit orbs.
