Play station frozen in checking the system storage status

Anybody get this error in 2023 you need a new harddrive

Mine loads up and then nothing happens it’s just a black screen

it's not always a hard drive, I got a new one in my Ps4 and it still is doing it after the update

Mine is doing something similar except it will check the drive then restart and once it boots it will check system storage status again. It finishes and crashes again

Mine gets to 100% and stays frozen for about 10 minutes then shows the ps symbol like it’s about to start up then just stays FROZEN ON A BLACK SCREEN🤦🏾‍♂️

Mine was stuck at 23%, then it went on 27%

I have the same problem, mine is not damaged either, I held the power and eject button for 10 sec's

As I searched this video it started loading

the only way to fix it would be to get your ps4 into safe mode and initialize it

Idk if im late but, when u restore everything back to the original factory system, u actually get all of ur saved data and games back

I've tried every option in safe mode and it loops every time leading back to 'checking the system storage at 23%' nothing is working

I get the same exact thing! But it actually loads all the way then it takes me to a screen where it says it wants a USB containing version 3.15 in it! No matter that I selected in safe mode it did nothing! But I haven't tried the last two choices cuz I don't want to loose all my stuff!

Turn it off the take the plug out for 30 seconds then put it back in on and it will be able to lode again!

Mine gets all the way to 100% then brings up a screen saying that I have to download the software from their web site (latest software) and put it on a usb stick then download it on my ps4 does this mean I lose all my data

If anyone still looking keep holding the power button to turn of then back on and eventually it will go past the number you were stuck on don't do no safe mode stuff it just trial amd error but a warning you might need hardwire

You either need to: initialize ps4 (install software via usb) or possibly get a sad or new hard drive.
