The trick to drones is having a single output, and multiple input locations. You can have as many inputs as you want and they'll all fly to, and wait for the output.

Specifically, in a situation like this, you could have a single output and multiple input locations allowing you to transfer WAY more per minute. IF you really wanted to do it that way. And then just combine them all at the end.

I think people assume you have to input, output pair ports because that's how other transportation works. But Drones are way more flexible in that regard.

One great thing about drones is they can transport items in both directions.

Especially when transporting liquids or gases you can fly the packed whatever in one direction and fly the empty canister back to the other direction where it can be refilled.

Drones are good for big stack items (screw, wire), or late game items, which take so long to produce it doesn't matter what their stack is.

The best thing for the first one might be Caternium Wire (best use of Caternium IMO) or Uranium. Its useful for modular factories more so than for a big central one.

Coupling this with a dual spoke&wheel system and you can get anything from anywhere and anything to anywhere and not have to distribute fuel at all if you produce fuel at the main hub, or maximum 1 drone dedicated to fuel transport.

Fun fact with drones, if you make all the higher tier stuff for nuclear power with just drones, you need to do it twice to power them all

I still think the best mode of transportation is the conveyor belt; they are one of the only things in the game that require no energy input, but they have an output.

If drones aren't transporting fast enough then you just don't have enough drones.

I suggest a cargo blimp that the drones stack material in and the blimp shuttles it over

Keep in mind there’s a known bug with drones where the drones have a chance to just freeze mid-route when you leave render distance, only fixed when you save and reload your game. Never use drones for anything mandatory for your factory to function ( i.e power supply line.) until this bug is fixed

Yes, with the best fuel in the game and 500 items per stack. The only 500-stack items I remember are screws, which you always want to get rid of, and in the endgame you have alternative recipes to get rid of them, and concrete. Why would I transport concrete when limestone is the most common resource on the map right after iron?

I use them for late game to deliver uranium rods for my power plants.

I am in the late game stages and i still haven't implemented trains or drones. i've barely got a few hypertube routes going.

I got so many drones everything still running not at the belt speed but enough for me to progress
