Okay, let me advocate for the cops here, all of the information wasn't in this short, so I don't have all the information either.
1. They could have simply placed the tag on the bike, and claimed the bike was there's.
1b. The cops cannot march on someone's property just because you say they have something of yours, otherwise, I'd call the cops for my neighbors fireplace (It is a really nice fire place.)
2. Unless they had ALL of the information of the bike, including title, registration, and insurance (if needed, no idea what kind of bike it was, or if the one in the video is it) They still couldn't come on their property.
3. If the bike was hidden behind a privacy fence, and they had all the information with the airtag, They'd still need a warrant to search the property for the bike, which can get moved in that amount of time.
Now, I support the dad, I'd have done the same thing, personally, I think vigilantism can be a good thing, especially if your that guy going around 86ing the kiddy diddlers. Let's shit head criminals know they've gone too far. But anyway I'm just some random shmoo on the internet. Gfsf

They hate when people do their job because it embarrasses them.

Cops ignore thefts like this, and then get mad because you decide to do something about it. What a world we live in.

Im a retired cop and i definitely approve of what he did. The cops should have taken that information and went and got the bike back.

If it were the cops daughter’s bike. They absolutely would go get a judge to sign an emergency warrant. The house would be raided by a tactical team and every single person in the house arrested.

A citizens bike? Oh they show up hours later, if at all, demand your ID and if they don’t like the way you communicate with them, place you under arrest.

Sheriff's office has some nerve with that statement.
If you're going to do absolutely nothing, do us a favor and say absolutely nothing as well.

Sheriff's Department: Don't take the law into your own hands.
Also Sheriff's Department: Nothing we can do. It's a civil matter for the courts.

The cops kick in peoples doors all the time without a warrant. They think that investigating a bike theft is beneath them.

Exactly we need more people to stand up

Police officials would also say, "Sorry we're not gonna send someone out." Then they wanna punish you for doing their job for free

I swear the law is more with the criminals than the people. It’s like schools when they do nothing about bullying it’s just adults now.

Acting like it's a crime to get your own property back. I know they say it's dangerous, but if the victims had support, than the perps wouldn't have more entitled rights to keep the stolen stuff.. This world is insane

Damn criminals got more rights than we do

Imagine if you stole a $3, 000 item from a police officer. I guarantee you they wouldn't drag their heels with their half-assed laziness
