23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan is furious at NASCAR and has just come out and said that NASCAR’s unwillingness to create permanent charters for Cup teams is “a big, big miss” and that “if you don’t correct that, the sport’s going to die not because of the competition aspect, but because economically it doesn’t make sense for any business people.”

Both are overboard in this situation. NASCAR's greed and Hamlin's too.

I whole heartedly disagree with the charters and a "guaranteed" starting position. All this does is eliminates the small teams from even trying to compete. The other problen is stage racing and the "playoffs" or whatever they call it this week. Theoretically a driver could win every race, but not finish the final race and therefore would not win the championship.

It's already started to die off. It's not the same as it was back in the day.

The problem is Steve Phelps taking a declining product and making it even worse. Curtis Polk is nuts if he thinks this group of people are going to save it. Hmm, what was missing in the early 2000's? Can you say playoffs?? They're clueless!!

Don’t forget NASCAR owns 15 or more of the tracks they have races at. Therefore they make 75% of the revenue at a majority of the tracks they race at …. NOT 10%.

This is not Nascar like it use to be. I've been watching this sport for 50 years and the golden years are long long past. When I watch a race all I see are empty seats and guaranteed starting spots. It’s a sad situation for what was once a great sport.

To hear Hendricks say that it’s unprofitable, .,
Is amazing…
The whole sport has been about teams trying to make money by winning the races…
After 60 years, I’m sick of NASCAR…
Trying to watch on TV is very frustrating with their producers knowing nothing about how to show it and the constant ads & commercialization ..
Going to the tracks is outrageously expensive.
Sad to see the Greed !

I watch the YouTube highlights. Spend zero money on it. Went to one race Fontana was awful. Same with San Diego NFL game awful.

Everything about it travel. Parking. Prices. Comfort. Getting in out.

You know what is easy? Driving into the parking lot of NY NY in Vegas. Walking from there to MGM etc.

Had a blast in 1960s going to pro sports. Not anymore.

From 1970-1980….only cars used were the stock models. 1985 to 2000, next gen car. From 2000 to 2024….we are on car of tomorrow number six. Each car costs 250, 000 befor you put an engine and trans in it. Then, the car must be lazered to pass tech….then we need less horsepower engines that cost 10, 000 more than last seasons. Then when nascar gets a panty wad….issue out 100, 000 dollar fines and points losses. Yeas screw all of nascar. Seems like the France family just got too god dam greedy. Now at a cost of 45 million dollars for 1 car for 1 season price tag, yeah racing is the faster way to go broke and be a nobody.

The concept of having tracks - almost half of them being owned by NASCAR - getting a percentage (let alone 65%) of the media rights revenue is preposterous. As far as I can remember, there is no such provision in sports or entertainment.

End charters, stages and give more horsepower or dead for sure.

Its too one sided for NASCAR, they need to go back to real racing and competition with money for teams.
