For people that live in the city without access to a plug they are probably better off with the regular hybrid which uses slightly less fuel (compared to Prime driven on gas only). The gas model is better for people that do nothing but highway driving. The Prime is ideal for suburban families that do a lot of short trips during the week and then take trips to remote areas on the weekend.

I want one but they seem nearly impossible to find one. You have to get on a waiting list at most dealerships and I’m finding they are marking them up about $3k which takes away from the tax credit. So with this costing so much more than the regular RAV4 you have to ask yourself is $10k worth the plug-in feature. You can tow more as well. For me it’s a big no
